I decided to replace it and went for the black oxide with engraving so it was easier to spot and less easy to be borrowed and not retuned. Not a big fan of the Molle sheath but that is a personal preference and in no way detracts from the wave or the service from Multi tool store. I do have other models of Leatherman but the wave is simply the best all round tool there is to have on your belt. Black oxide - why not ?just give it a clean when you first get it. do I expect it to deteriorate over time .. yes just as the stainless picks up scratches, but this just shows it is a well used and well made tool that lasts a lifetime. carl cameron

Trying to wear them in by simply opening and closing over and over seems to have little to no difference. It’s come to a point where now the tool itself will fold up instead of opening/closing the pliers as they are that still.
Will be contacting multi tool store for a refund/replacement set.

5I have previous owned a Wave but it is very old and has a few broken peaces. So when I could afford up to upgrade to a new one I replaced it. Love the black version and it is so much better than my old one. Multi-tool store were so helpful and the service was excellent.
