1Broke after a couple of weeks, sent item back for a replacement, checked to ensure it was recieved, then emailed customer services to find out when I would be getting a replacement, no communication. Had to chase 3 times only to be then told it hadn’t been received, sent confirmation it was recieved and then had to chase when I would be receiving my replacement, and if no replacement was being sent why and when I would receive refund. 4Bought as a replacement for my 10 year old Leatherman Wave whose main blade finally broke of years of service.
Its a bit bigger but still very compact. Build quality is as good if not better than the 10 year old Wave I had. I like the interchangeable bits which should help prolong its life (but if it lasts me 10 years I will be very happy)
My only niggle is the pliers. The tips have a slight pronounced ridge which means they dont seem to close perfectly. I think this is by design but it means I struggle to pull wire with the pliers as the wire just slides through the grips. I may have to grind the tip down slightly for my personal use.christopher king

Use it nearly everyday at work and it saves me a lot of trips back to the van. What ever did i do without this Surge 2nd gen?

5I had a problem with this. There was a hairline crack in the plastic sheath that holds the bits . This could not be seen until I unpackaged it. No ones fault but it needed fixing. I dread these situations. Is it what you have done, post back and forth and so on. Not here! Oh yes sir we will send a new sheath. Within 2 days it arrived. Brilliant , just brilliant service from a great firm. First time I have used them for the purchase of a Leatherman surge and the bits to go with it. I will use again.Sean Farrell

The Surge feels very well built to a high standard which is backed with the 25 year warranty. So far it has been useful and worked for all occasions and for how well built it is, the Surge is light enough to be able to carry comfortably and it not weigh your trousers down etc.Anonymous

Very well designed, I love the robust closing mechanism, the nylon material in my opinion is better then the leather option which I have had in the past and it split on me. Great storage for accessories like the extender bar on the elasticated part to the side and enough space to insert a mini torch to the opposite side. I would have given it a five star rating (Very Good) if the pocket to the rear was just that little bit wider, I just can't fit the full bit kit and spare sharpener/hacksaw blade. Looks part of the original design and our son was over the moon. Found the website really easy to use and delivery was exactly as promised. This is a tradesman/blue-collar tool, for home DIY I would probably use something lighter.

5Very well made piece of kit the knife blades are damn sharp-over all the surge weight ratio is ok and it being one of the bigger multi tools it's ok as I have large hands . this could more than cope with every thing you throw at it . It's a shame that you can't get this without a knife blade for uk law etc
