Absolutely love my new leatherman signal I brought one as a gift and had to buy myself one as well.

I received this as a gift, Wow what a fabulous tool, the only thing i think is missing are scissors.

This is a good tool but it has a few negatives which detract from the whole idea of the tool. Firstly, the good points: the opened tool forms a large and comfortable pair of pliers which are strong and durable. Leatherman’s usual standard. The tool looks great too, based on the design first used in the Leatherman Skeletool and Leatherman Mutt. The saw and blade are good. The blade is a combo edged tool with a sheep’s foot design.. these are both outside accessible as well as the bottle opener / carabiner hook. There is also a small ‘hammer’ tool, which would be ok in a pinch for tapping in a tent peg or knocking something into place but I wouldn’t risk trying to hammer in a nail as the surface area of the ‘hammer plate’ is too small and the chance of missing the nail and hitting it with your hand too great. The Signal has Leatherman’s excellent bit exchanger and a can opener / wire stripper .there is also a handy tool locking switch to keep the tool closed while in your pocket. The plier has replaceable cutting blades, which I’ve never had to change but is a nice option. All good stuff. The negative points are that the blade sharpening rod feels cheap and has fallen off the tool at least once since I’ve bought it while using the driver. It will sharpen the knife blade on the Signal but isn’t the best and a little bit of a gimmick. Similarly, the fire rod / emergency whistle have a cheap plastic feel about them and although it may be able to light a fire, it looks like a thing of last resort and I would definitely take a separate fire starting tool with me on a camping trip. The whistle works, just about but again, I’d probably take a proper whistle rather than rely on this. Finally, the pouch if the same kind Leatherman now ship with their Free series. This means that it is well made and with an open press stud opener. The tool fits very snugly into the sheath. I’m not a big fan of thi, as although it looks nice it has no no elasticated pockets like the old style sheathes had which could hold a bit kit or driver extension or better fire rod or matches or any number of handy things you would want on a camping trip.. I am taking this on a camping trip but will be taking a proper fire starter rather than relying on this. Good but not great and I hold have preferred alternative tools than these cheap gimmicks. The rest of the tool is very good though.

It's exactly what I was looking for as something for my camping trips. Would give it 5-stars if two minor changes were made. If there was a spring mechanism to keep the pliers open when in use, they would be a lot easier to use, but I realise this is the same for all of these types of tool. The 2nd, more achievable mod a little ramp on the inside of the handles to stop the tips of the pliers catching when being put away. Then it would be perfect!

Great quality product, a well received Christmas gift, nicely packaged and promptly delivered. The personalised engraving made it extra special. The rule of buying a gift is to buy something you would like yourself ....now I want one!

Excellent product bought fir my husband for his Birthday. Really well made and useful. I did have to watch a you tube video to learn about all the tools and how to open it, might be an idea to watch if you buy ?

Absolutely amazing tool

First class quality in manufacture. One handed operation for knife access is an enormous improvement from my first Leatherman. A very wide range of emergency tools in an equisitively compact format.

This specific item is for a niche market, and useful particularly for those who go camping, walking, trekking. Has got a couple of items which is specific to survival if you were to be caught short. Great quality, looks good, feels well made as my other 2 Leathermans. I would definitely be buying this item again.

May have liked a leather pouch but nylon one seems sturdy & should last a long time. Very happy with product which was recommended by staff to suit Signal / Bit Kit / Extender Bit.

This is a great multitool to add to the kit. It is well built, feels study and fits nicely into the palms of your hands. It has no sharp edges on the grip and is generally well finished (I purchaserd the standard colours with black grips and silver pliers and butt end). Having the knife and saw accessible without needing to open up the whole multitool is great. I have already used the saw to cut through branches 2.5 inches thick on a recent trip and it was razor sharp and made a clean cut straight out of the box. The knife needed some work, however, as I found the factory edge on the blade to be a bit dull and I needed to spend some time honing it on a whet stone. Having the knife, saw and other utility items lock into place with an easy to use press botton release mechanism for me is another positive for this multitool along with the ability to lock the tool closed when not opened for use with the pliers or the bit tool. The pliers work well and the tip and over all size make them perfect for a multitool of this size. I have found the pivot point to be quite stiff, however, even after using the supplied mineral oil and working it into the joints by opening and closing the pliers several times. For me, however, one of the great let downs for this multitool is not being able to lock it closed when using the bit tool. The bit tool was one of the key features that drew me towards purchasing this knife but when fully opened, it rests against the butt end and won't allow the multitool to fully close. You can close it complete if the bit tool is opened only to 90 degrees but this is not always going to useable even with a bit extender. I would say this is the only major let down of this model of multitool. The flint is a nice little addition if you are in a situation where you didn't have matches, a lighter or another more purpose made flint but in all reality I will probably just use matches or a lighter. The safety whistle also falls into this category. Again its a nice little addition but is too small to really be effective if you were properly lost in the bush. I would just ensure you keep a proper whistle (or an EPIRB if you were in a situation were one is called for) on you at all times should you be in a situation where one might be needed. I would also place the on tool diamond sharpener in the same category as the flint and whistle. It might get you out of a tough spot but I would not recommend using it once you get home, I would immediately put the blade straight onto a whet stone to get it back to where it should be. I would suggest you are better off carrying in your kit a small sharpening stone that can be used when you don't have access to your normal ones, My final review point is on the factory supplied nylon pouch. Whilst well made I do not rate it as a holster for my multitool. I personally don't like the aesthetic look of it (but that is a personal preference) but my principle gripe rests with its design. Its quite flat and too wide for the knife. I have segregated this to holding my Bit Kit that I purchased as part of the Deluxe Set I purchased when I bought the knife. It works perfectly for this and I would suggest that Leatherman switch the nylon pouch supplied with the Deluxe Set with the one supplied with the Signal multitool. Overall, I am happy with the multitool and for the types of situations where I will be using it (fishing, mountain biking and hiking) I rate it a 4 out 5. The inability to completely close the tool when using the bit tool and the not so useful flint and whistle detracts that one star. It is still a good tool, however, and if you are in the market for a decent multitool but don't want to pay the higher price tag for the top end Leatherman equipment then I would not hesitate in recommending it.

I bought this to replace my wave that I lost after 4yrs of Every day use. Every thing about the signal is quality but it's not a wave and though I like it I will prob keep it in my rucksack and purchase another wave or it's bigger brother

Excellent quality product with everything you could possibly need - including a ferro rod and striker. Really like the colour too - both the aqua outers and carbon black tools and blades. My new day-hike and camping multi-tool for sure. Feels hefty and robust. Mechanisms are smooth. Everything is sharp and fit for purpose. Feels better designed and more ergonomic than my old Weatherman. Multi-tool store.co.uk also had it at a really great value price for what is a hard-to-find item in the UK. Couldn't be happier.

Love this tool. Easy one-handed blade opening, carabiner for keeping it to hand, nice weight and fit. Haven't had a chance to use the whole thing yet but the blade helped save my camera from getting soaked when my (unbeknownst to me) stitched in backpack strap ends needed cutting so I could use my waterproof cover. I look forward to working my way through the rest of the tools.

I have been a fan of leatherman for over a decade and had one as an edc all along this is a bare bones tool that ticks all the boxes that's lighter by far than my surge but I have all the tools I use regularly extremely happy with it

I bought this as a gift for my son who goes camping a lot, he is familiar with the brand and was delighted to receive it, it appears to have many uses and will come in very handy when my son is out in the field, it looks very good quality and should last a long time
