Leatherman Free T4 - Range of Colours LTT4+Colour#N/A
4I had not expected the Free T4 to be so wide or heavy so this was a surprise. I had expected the magnetic movement of the tools to make it easier, particularly as I have arthritis. Sadly I do not find it any easier, indeed to get tools out I need to press the catch and then hold down the ends of the tools. I actually find this harder than the traditional way of lifting them up.
That said the Free T4 is excellent quality and all the tools do exactly what they should and the clip is very useful to ensure this stays with me.
I have no hesitation in recommending Leatherman as excellent tools.David Alexander

4An excellent tool that has clearly taken some lead from Victorinox. I’ve never understood why Victorinox don’t incorporate more of their unsurpassed tools in their alox scaled knives? Anyway Leatherman now have they include a set of tweezers and a pocket clip that’s great! Not quite so great is the apparent amount of wasted space between the tools, tessellation isn’t their strong point apparently. Also the lack of a nail notch can make the opening of individual tools slightly frustrating. Furthermore the locking blade makes this non U.K. carry friendly! So an excellent start for this type of tool from Leatherman, hopefully next generation will be an improvement! Paul

5I own two Leatherman tools a Wave and a small Style CS which serve me well.
I bought two Free T4 for a 21st and an 18th birthday present. Both recipients were delighted with their gift. I am sure they will be useful tool for them for many years to come.Eric

5I am an avid user of Leatherman tools; having now a collection of about 8 different tools. I have purchased the T4 for in my car EDC kit so that I have a good reliable tool to hand under all and any situation. It holds nicely in the hand and has a useful number of handy tools.Arthur Rogers

4I have bought it as a Christmas gift for a friend so I can't say how well it uses ... it looks of decent quality though Zoe

Love Leatherman knives, super quality.
4Definitely not a one handed knife, unless you have a magician's dexterity or all day to unship a blade. (and thumbnails of steel). Having said that, this has turned into an everyday carry because it has a great form factor in the hand and the tools chosen for it are straight up useful. Magnetic locking - bit meh. No better no worse.Stephen Bamber

5Well designed and well manufactured, as usual with Leatherman products. The 'Free' range is exceptionally well-designed, easier to use one-handed, safer blade locking mechanisms.

Excellent tool.
4A good multi tool with some drawbacks.
A well constructed multi tool as you would expect from Leatherman.
Fairly small and compact with useful features for its size; Blade, metal file, flat screw driver, crosshead screw driver, tweezers, scissors, awl, bottle opener, fine flat screw driver and a belt clip. there is a small cross drilled hole in the handle at one end that is useful for tying a loop of securing cord through.
I have been able to operate most of the features on the Free T4 with a single hand operation, as advertised, but that can't be said for the blade. This doesn't bother me too much but do be careful if you are trying to open the blade single handed.
One thing that really annoys me with any Leatherman product purchased in the UK is the price compared to the price paid in the United States! this is the same for the Free T4. In the States it retails at approximately $50 to $60 Dollars yet here in the UK it is at least £75 GBP. It does make me feel ripped off!
Another annoying thing I find with the Free T4 (at the time of writing the review) is the lack of a specifically designed carrying pouch so that the multitool can be carried on a belt. There should be an option to either have this supplied with the multitool or purchase it separately.
In summary; good quality but not 100% perfect.

3I am a huge Leatherman fan, and own various models, going back over 25 years or so.
My favourite to date is one of my first (original SS Wave)
I bought the Free T4 just to see what Leatherman are up to these days. (Sept 2019).
Pleased to say they are getting the visual amenity pretty much spot on..!!
This thing looks 'The Dogs' and also, importantly, feels great in the hand.I
Hark back to 80s SAK , with a modern twist, and you may get the idea...?
It's light weight (very) and well built. I don't agree with other posts re the plastic inserts making it feel and look cheap.
The magnetic core theory was another thing that attracted me, and to a certain degree, it works.
HOWEVER, out of the box, try getting the blade out with one hand, and you might just snap your right thumb tendon...!!
It is definitely a two handed job.
The other tools are manageable with one hand, but hardly 'Rolls Royce' smoothness.
All that said, it's another great looking tool from Leatherman, and feels strong, lightweight, and extremely well thought out and put together. Just don't get to frustrated if you haven't got super human strengths in one hand.. Peter A Crerar

5A lightweight Leatherman build quality good but possibly 1 step down from all steel Leatherman as there is plastic used it hasn’t been an issue though and more a perception that it might not be as durable but time will tell, good balance, useful tools, just right for pocket or bag, box opening tool useful as will not damage contents. 5Living up to expectations. Clearly very good quality and well thought out design. I really like the fact that all the tools lock. Only improvement would be to have a tooth pick as well as the tweezers.nick gilford

5Great size, lockable tools / blade. Built in belt clip.
My only minor criticism is in the engraving. It's too far up the blade.Russell CALVERT

4This is an absolute novelty in the Leatherman product. It is really a pleasure to have in the hands this lightweight multitool, not only for the knife, the scissors and the screwdrivers, but also because it is a beautiful object. If you are a Leatherman addicted you certainly cannot miss the FREE T4.Enrico Ceotto

3Im a big leatherman fan and have over 30 leatherman multitools. I was really excited when I saw this knife with its magnets to hold the the tools in place. I had to pre order it. The quality is comparable if not less than a wingman. I had to sharpen the scissors as they had a burr on the edge of one side id say 10% of the quality of the waves scissors. Sadly the wave is still my favourite multitool. For £75 it is highly over priced for a mass produced knife using plastic inserts and inferior components. Its clearly been made for the shareholders as a cheap to make big margin multitool. Sadly see this happening to all big companies. If it was £40 I would say its better than buying a swiss army knife. Otherwise go for an older model like a skeletool or wave. Sadly I wont be buying a P4 but look forward to seeing the P4 tech being used on the Wave. Now that will be special. LEE MOSEY
