5I have just ordered a replacement knife, mine was unfortunately lost while working in Brazil, I originally bought mine in the USA about 4 years ago so plenty of time to have a proper opinion on it. Held a good edge, easy to sharpen, when open locked up solid with no play in the blade clip on the end with bottle opener etc.. all work well nothing, came loose or failed, just an excellent knife for the money, mine was $26. Just hope the new one will be as good. If you are looking for a work knife you cannot go wrong at this price, plus they have a twenty five year guarantee, don't think about it just get one. Only wish they made a legal carry version for the UK.James

56 months or 32000 mile down the line still both tools going strong with the added advantage of the carabiner clip it is always by my side. Been with me up every mast climbed and has came in handy on more than one occasion. Highly recommended!Thom

Not particularly with amputation in mind, but just due to the general feeling of "make do" that you get with a cheap tool. The Leatherman is a completely different proposition. The blades are razor sharp and the saw and main knife both lock with a satisfying and solid click. The pliers feel like proper pliers and you don't feel like you have to hold back when using them like you do with a lesser tool. I note some of the criticisms about the pouch, but it couples up well with the carabiner accessory, and if you need to have it handy for quick use then there is the belt clip and lanyard ring. All I needed on this! Could do with some other tools, package opener, scissors, like joining the Wingman and Sidekick together in one. LEATHERMAN - please make a quality case for this! 4Given this by my boss at work last week. Fantastic tool with several blades in a compact size and the weight of the product is acceptable and not a burden. It's a shame there are no sheath's available yet (hence 4 stars and not 5) but it does have a pocket clip which is useful and can be removed if necessary.Roy Rayner

5I have purchased 4 x leatherman multi tools now, all from multi-tool-store. The quality and precision of these tools are exquisite. And they are tools. My partner and I used them regularly around the house and at home, and I keep them in my cycling pack.
The sidekick is slightly smaller than the Charge and Surge, and possibly not quite as designed for heavy duty. But it is still built well, and more compact and lighter. I also like the spring action in the pliers which Charge and Surge do not have.
My only suggestion would be (and this is the case for any leatherman) would be to have a case with a little storage pouch suitable for holding an AirTag or similar - I panicked once when I couldn’t find one of these multi-tools as they are pretty small, used for all sorts of things and easily misplaced.
